Lens Overview
Landscape, Snapshots, Portraits, Animals, Birds: An All-in-One Zoom Lens for All Kinds of Photography
The main feature of this lens is its broad 16.6x zoom ratio, the world’s first[1] for an APS-C size mirrorless lens when it was released in 2021. It covers a focal length of 18-300mm[2], allowing you to take a wide range of photos from wide-angle to super-telephoto. In particular, this all-in-one zoom with its 300mm super-telephoto reach is useful in a wide range of situations, from vast landscapes and everyday snapshots to portraits, as well as animals, birds, sports and kids’ events. In addition, the weight is approximately 620g (21.9oz)[3], and the filter diameter is Ø67mm— the same as many in our mirrorless lens series. The compact design is ideal for use on trips and hikes.

18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD, A Versatile Zoom Lens for Mirrorless
The TAMRON 18-300mm VC lens is highly desirable for travel photographers due to its exceptional versatility and convenience. Spanning an extensive 16.6X zoom range, it allows you to capture a wide variety of scenes, from sweeping landscapes and intricate architectural details to distant wildlife and candid street photography, all with a single lens.
This all-in-one zoom eliminates the need to carry and switch between multiple lenses, making it a perfect travel lens. Its compact and lightweight design enhances portability, while the optics ensure high-quality images across the zoom range. The Vibration Compensation (VC) aids in capturing sharp images in low-light or at extended focal lengths, making it an indispensable tool for capturing the diverse and dynamic moments encountered during travel.

Best-in-class VXD Autofocus That's Fast and Precise, Great for Bird and Animal Photography
The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC lens is a versatile zoom with speed, precision and responsiveness that ranks at the top of the all-in-one zoom lens category, due in part to TAMRON’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. Even at the ultra-telephoto focal length of 300mm, this lens provides comfortable focusing from the minimum distance to infinity. Its focus tracking expertly captures decisive moments when photographing birds, animals, vehicles or other moving subjects. Since the lens group for focusing can be driven directly without the use of gears, the linear motor suppresses drive noise, making it ideal for still photo and video shooting in quiet environments.
Your Ultimate Travel Companion: Versatile Zoom Power for Every Journey
The TAMRON 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 is the perfect all-in-one travel lens, covering an impressive 16.6x zoom range (27–450mm equivalent) in a compact, lightweight design. Its image stabilization makes it ideal for shooting indoors—like museums or cathedrals—without a tripod. With a 1:2 maximum magnification ratio, it’s also great for capturing delicious food or intricate travel details up close. From sweeping landscapes to street scenes and telephoto shots, this lens handles every moment of your journey effortlessly.

Maximum magnification ratio is 1:2, absolutely amazing for an all-in-one zoom lens
At 18mm, the lens provides an impressive maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 with an MOD of 0.15m (5.9″). With an amazing working distance of 5mm (0.2″)*, you can get as close as you want to your subject while capturing the background and take a photographic expression unique to wide macro photography.
*When shooting with an MOD of 0.15m (5.9″) at the wide end, the distance between the subject and the front tip of the lens is approximately 5mm (0.2″). Use precaution so that the front element does not touch the subject when shooting at MOD.
Uncompromising optical performance throughout the entire zoom range
The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC VXD provides superbly high-resolution created through TAMRON’s persistent pursuit of outstanding image quality. The optical construction includes several special lens elements, specifically four LD (Low Dispersion) and three hybrid aspherical lens elements. These elements help to produce clear, sharp images from the center to the corners. Chromatic aberration and other optical aberrations are well corrected. In addition, the BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating suppresses ghosting and flare, which commonly occur in backlit scenes. Throughout the entire zoom range, the 18-300mm provides both high image quality and soft creamy bokeh.

Equipped with TAMRON's proprietary VC
This lens incorporates TAMRON’s proprietary VC mechanism to minimize the effect of camera-shake, which is likely to occur in the telephoto range. It displays its ability to perform when shooting handheld under low-light conditions such as indoor or when shooting at night. It effectively reduces the degradation of picture quality. Using AI technologies, the lens will choose the compensation characteristic for videography at focal lengths of 70mm or less.
AF/MF Switch and VC ON/OFF Switch for Canon RF mount
The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC for Canon RF mount is equipped with an AF/MF switch and a VC ON/OFF switch. You can adjust the AF/MF switch for close-up photography of flowers or table photos. Also, you can switch VC ON/OFF for handheld or tripod shooting. It allows flexible settings according to the shooting situation and achieves even greater convenience and comfortable operability.

TAMRON Lens Utilityâ„¢ Software for Nikon Z and CANON RF mounts
With the Nikon Z and the CANON RF mount versions, you can use the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility software that was developed in-house by TAMRON[1]. This application lets you easily update the lens to the latest firmware themselves without going through the camera[2]. On the firmware information screen, you can check the version of your lens and update it if a newer firmware version is available.
[1] To connect your PC and lens, use the TAMRON Connection Cable (USB Type-A to Type-C/ Model CC-150, or USB Type-C to Type-C/ Model CC-350) sold separately.
[2] As the 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC is not equipped with a Focus Set Button, certain functions cannot be customized.

Features
A 7-blade diaphragm is configured to retain a smooth, circular-shaped aperture opening even when stopped down by two stops from the wide-open aperture. This produces a smooth-edged bokeh in background highlights.
TAMRON has long been an innovator of coating technologies that prevent ghosting and flare. Second-generation BBAR-G2 Coating is a groundbreaking advancement that provides vastly improved performance compared to the original BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating. The coating corrects for ghosting and flare to an unprecedented extent and renders fine subject detail with true clarity and stunning contrast even under backlit conditions.
The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC VXD has a switch that can lock the zoom ring at the 18mm focal length if desired. This prevents the unwanted extension of the lens barrel due to the weight of the lens during transportation.
For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-resistant seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment.
The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellent. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.
Nearly all TAMRON mirrorless lenses have a 67mm filter size. allowing use of the same filters and lens caps among a wide range of lenses. PL and ND filters are typically expensive, so sharing saves money. Additionally, this eliminates the need to search for caps with different diameters when switching lenses.
