And all of these features come at a price that is shockingly low.”About the Award
Each year, the Editors of Popular Photography recognize the best new photo gear with the POP Awards for Photography’s Outstanding Products. This honor goes to the excellent cameras, lenses, accessories, and software that most help photographers make great pictures. Popular Photography’s Editor-in-Chief Miriam Leuchter states: “In the POP Awards, our editors identify the technological advances most likely to make a difference in photography today and give this coveted prize to the absolute standouts.”About the Lens
Tamron’s new series of SP lenses are optimized to make the most of the superior imaging performance delivered by the latest advancements in digital photography. One of first lenses in the new series, Tamron SP 35mm F/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F012), offers a fast aperture and a versatile, slightly wider fixed focal length. At 7.9″ MOD, its close-focusing capability is unsurpassed in this class of lenses, expanding the creative potential for the photographer. Sporting a totally revamped external appearance, this new lens provides the ultimate in functionality and operation. Despite the cutting-edge technology inside the lens, the exterior has an organic feel: masking the technology in a softer, more intuitive design. Tamron calls this design “Human Touch” and is the result of the pursuit to build a lens that becomes not just a tool, but a photographer’s partner. The 35mm is designed to feel right: from switch locations to weight distribution. And the new SP line’s aluminum barrel feels comfortable in the hands. The lens has a 120% larger display window and a new original font to improve readability, fluorine coating on the front element that repels oil and water, moisture-resistant construction and more.About Tamron
