Hidden among the trees is a remarkable collection of weathered vehicles, forgotten signs, handcrafted objects, and unexpected scenes.

Join Allen’s Camera, Tamron Americas, and Professional Photographer Rick Gerrity for a two-part photography experience devoted to finding compelling images in a visually complex environment. During the field session, Tamron will have free loaner lenses available, giving you the freedom to experiment with different focal lengths, new perspectives, and support your creativity.

The workshop begins at Allen’s Camera on Friday, October 2 at 5:30 p.m. During this classroom session, we’ll explore techniques for working with color, texture, shape, and natural light. We’ll also discuss how lens choice and perspective can transform the your subject – from wide angel shots to macro shots revealing every detail.

On Sunday, October 4, we’ll meet in the Egg Harbor area for a guided field session. You’ll photograph antique cars and trucks, fading paint, oxidized metal, vintage signs, woodland details, and some unexpected finds. You’ll be encouraged to create a collection of photographs that captures the atmosphere, mystery, and oddity of the place.

Special guest model Tiffani Nicole, known as @missrubeeanne – will bring vintage-inspired style to the setting, giving participants an opportunity to create environmental portraits that complement the history and character of the antique vehicles.

Patty Gregitis from Tamron and  Brendan “Fitz” Fitzpatrick of Allen’s Camera will be on location to provide assistance with composition, exposure, camera settings, and lens selection. His experienced eye and approachable teaching style will help photographers at every level find strong images within this extraordinary setting.

Participants should bring a camera, charged batteries, memory cards, comfortable closed-toe footwear, and clothing appropriate for the weather and terrain.

Get into the Halloween spirit with this unique on location photo workshop. Photographers will have exclusive access to Blind Scream the North Bay’s largest haunted house, as well as costumed characters to model in the spooky sets. Tamron will be on hand with lenses and lighting setups as well as two instructors to help you capture the creepy characters and scenes.

Spend Sunday October 11^th with Shutterbug and Tamron at Safari West. This is a two-part class. Session one is Saturday October 10^th at 4pm in the Shutterbug classroom for a seminar on how to best capture the animals you will encounter at Safari West, and for photographing wildlife in general. You will have the opportunity to borrow Tamron’s loaner lenses to shoot during the part two.

The shooting part of the class takes place on Sunday October 11^th at 2pm. We will climb aboard one of the custom safari vehicles where safari guides will position us as safely as possible for the best wildlife photos. Each safari jeep will be limited to 9 photographers, so no one is caught in a middle seat. Over 90 species call Safari West home including cheetahs, lemurs, giraffes and wildebeest; and the view from the jeep gets us a great view of the herds. After the jeep ride we’ll saunter through the Amani Oasis Aviary where demoiselle cranes, scarlet ibis, and flamingoes parade around their lagoon home.

Photographers Night

Professional and amateur photographers are invited to capture the Aquarium’s wildlife during exclusive “photographers only” hours.
