Tamron 90mm F/2.8 DI III Macro VXD: A New Benchmark in Macro Photography

I recently tested the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 DI III VXD Macro lens for Nikon Z mount cameras, and I was truly impressed by its performance. This lens offers exceptional value while delivering high-quality optical construction.

With a minimum focusing distance of 9.1” (0.23m), it achieves a 1:1 magnification ratio, making it perfect for macro photography, and ideal choice for portraiture and other subjects.  The f/2.8 aperture setting is very sharp, with the sweet spot for this lens at f/5.6 – the ideal aperture for portraits.

Its weather-resistant design ensures durability in challenging conditions, allowing photographers to explore their creativity without fear of the elements.

The lens features 15 elements in 12 groups, including four low-dispersion glass elements, effectively reducing chromatic aberrations. The autofocus system is notably fast and accurate, surpassing my expectations compared to competing models, which is vital for capturing fleeting moments.

A standout feature is the lens hood with a sliding window, enabling the use of polarizing or ND filters without removing the hood. This convenience enhances the shooting experience, especially in varying lighting conditions.
