Marcie Reif

Marcie Reif is an award-winning Atlanta-based portrait and family photographer, educator, and Tamron Americas Image Master specializing in maternity, newborn, children’s, and family photography. Since opening her business Marcie Reif Photography in 2012, she has built a full-service brand focused on creating a calm, enjoyable experience and vibrant, emotionally meaningful images that reflect each family’s personality and connection. 

Before becoming a professional photographer, Marcie spent 11 years as an elementary school teacher. That experience continues to shape her patient, child-centered approach and her ability to help children and parents feel comfortable in front of the camera. From wardrobe guidance to the final image delivery, she works to make family portrait sessions organized, relaxed, and rewarding.  

Marcie believes the strongest portraits are created through trust, patience, and genuine connection. Combining technical precision with an approachable, creative style, she helps people feel comfortable in front of the camera leading to cherished family moments. 

Marcie is also an experienced photography educator who has taught hundreds of photographers how to improve their portrait techniques, client experience, and business workflows. She regularly teaches workshops, speaks at photography conferences, and creates educational content that makes advanced portrait techniques accessible to photographers at every skill level. Her practical teaching style and enthusiasm for photography have earned her a loyal following among photographers looking to strengthen both their technical and creative skills. 

Her experience photographing people in a variety of environments has given her valuable insight into lens selection, lighting techniques, and creating authentic connections between photographer and subject. Through her contributions to the Tamron blog, she shares practical family and portrait photography tips that help photographers create technically strong images while providing a better experience for the people they photograph. 

Marcie lives in Atlanta with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys documenting her family’s vacations, sporting events, and everyday activities.
