Tips for Wedding Photography with the TAMRON 35-150mm F/2-2.8

Images and Tips by Elmer Escobar

Capturing beautiful wedding moments requires the right gear, and the fast Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8 lens is an ideal choice for both versatility and performance. From intimate close-ups to wide-angle group shots, this lens handles a variety of settings with ease, ensuring you never miss a moment.

In this post, we’ll explore six tips for making the most of the Tamron 35-150mm lens to elevate your wedding photography game.

TIP 1

I wanted to capture a candid moment between the bride and groom for this shot below. The 35-150mm F/2-2.8 DI III VXD (Model A058) allowed me to feel as if I was “in” the scene, as opposed to being far away and zooming in a bunch.

TIP 2

For this shot, I wanted the groom to whisper something special in the bride’s ear. I think their genuine smiles shining through speak for themselves! By zooming in, I was able to give them privacy for this precious moment.

TIP 3

I wanted to make sure to capture the details of the bride’s ring. Having a longer focal length and wider aperture helped to create that beautiful blur and attention solely on the ring.

TIP 4

To capture this image, we walked alongside the bride and groom. By being on the wider end of the lens and walking with them, it gave us a more “in-the-moment” feel than if we had zoomed in and caught them at a distance.

TIP 5

We wanted to capture all the details going on the background while still maintaining the attention on our couple. By zooming in and using a wide aperture, we were able to blur the details so they wouldn’t be too distracting, but still present. I also had the bride look away from the camera, so she wasn’t tilting her chin down to the camera too much.

TIP 6

We wanted a candid feel for this photo so we had the 35-150mm zoomed in quite a bit. When photographing with dogs, we’ve learned that walking shots are perfect. While our couples look at each other, the dogs do their thing, and it produces a natural looking image!
