TAMRON Lenses Honored with Two Prestigious TIPA Awards in 2022

May 19, 2022, Commack, NY – Tamron announces the presentation by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) of its TIPA Award 2022 to two TAMRON lenses; 150-500mm F/5-6.7 DI III VC VXD (Model A057) for “BEST FULL FRAME ULTRA TELEPHOTO ZOOM LENS” and 35-150mm F/2-2.8 DI III VXD (Model A058) for “BEST TRAVEL ZOOM LENS.” TAMRON has been honored with TIPA Awards for nine consecutive years.

Users of ultra-telephoto zooms understand the benefits of a compact sized lens with image stabilization and a weather resistant housing, which is very useful for any kind of wildlife, sports, birding, and landscape photography. Along with special lens elements and coatings that reduce flare and ghosting in high-contrast scenes, this Sony E-mount lens incorporates a VXD linear focus motor that delivers very responsive performance, plus offers tracking and focusing benefits with Sony Hybrid AF and Eye AF feature cameras. It measures 11.1 inches (283 mm) at the 500mm focal length and weighs 60.8 oz (1.7 kilos), which TIPA members agreed make it a comfortable field lens for handheld shooting. A VC mode selection switch allows for choice of three modes for panning or “framing priority.” Users of Sony APS-C cameras can mount the lens to attain a 225-750mm zoom.

TIPA jury members selected this fast TAMRON for its strong appeal to travelers on weekend jaunts or extended vacation who like to pack only one lens for all their photo ops, thus allowing for spontaneous shooting and a wide variety of points of view without having to change lenses. Designed for Sony E-mount full frame cameras, this versatile lens fits easily into a camera bag, measuring 3.5 x 6.2 inches (89 x 158mm). Unlike many other zooms, there is no great loss of light capture when going from wide to tele (here, F/2 to F/2.8, when zoomed out). A VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) AF system provides quick, quiet and precise operation for still and video shootings. With the new TAMRON Lens UtilityTM Software users can customize many lens functions and update the firmware by connecting the lens with a computer via the USB-C port of the lens.
